This is a report from the second workshop of Star Chef ★ Shinagawa Kitchen! Thank you all for coming to the second workshop!
From total of four workshops, this is the second one. We hope you all enjoy cooking and interactive communication in English and Japanese.
Here are details from the workshop. This time is about Sushi Chef!! Adults and children; Japanese and foreign residents in Sushi chef hat experienced to become Sushi chefs!
And the workshop starts!
We had Ms. Obata, (Section Chief in charge of International Affairs, Community Promotion Section of Shinagawa City Office) introducing upcoming events which will be held in Shinagawa. In July’s Shinagawa City Office newsletter, there are information about upcoming fun events, festivals and Bon Odori in Shinagawa City. Please join the festivals in your area with your friends and family and enjoy together. Gami sensei gave us an introduction on the Name Bingo Game.
Jun sensei and Gami sensei used easy-to-understand gesture to explain how to play the Name Bingo Game.
During the game, we exchange greetings and ask each other’s name. "Hello!" "What's your name?" We asked each other’s name in English and collected signature from new friends. After the game, it is time for cooking. This is sushi ingredients☆
We cooled down the vinegared rice by using a fan.
Jun sensei taught us how to shape the sushi.
Can our kids shape the sushi neatly and become sushi chefs?
Everyone is doing well!
Nigiri sushi and Gunkan maki are done. So far so good!!
Jun sensei and Gami sensei explained how to make Maki sushi in easy-to- understand manner.
We neatly wrapped the sushi and cut by using a knife.
Jun sensei is going around the groups. Sushi is completed!

During tasting, one of the participants sang enka ☆ Thank you!
While the adults cleaned up the kitchen, the children enjoyed gesture game in English. Junko, Yoshiko and Naoko were showing gesture cards to the children. Last but not least, Yukari sensei closed the second workshop by inviting everyone to sing Good-bye Song using sign language; this song was taught by Tina sensei in the previous workshop.
We are very happy to see everyone enjoying the second workshop with friends and family!! Our chefs and EI-KIDS staff are looking forward to seeing you all again in the next Star Chef ★ Shinagawa Kitchen♪
