Thank you all for joining the first workshop! Just like the first term, we have total of four workshops.
There are three workshops left to go!
Let’s all enjoy cooking together, and interactive communication in English and Japanese.
So let us share the details from the workshop.
To begin with, we had an opening speech from Mr. Kouchi (Manager) and
Ms. Obata(Section Chief) of International Affairs, Community Promotion Section of
Shinagawa City Office.
We started with “Hello” song as a warm up!
In this song, we sang “Hello” in 10 different languages.
We also had explanation from the participants about how to say hello in their home country.
Please practice this song at home for the sing along♪
Next, we introduced ourselves to each other!
Within each group, we introduced our name and our favorite food.
Now it’s time for cooking!
Today’s menu is “Tasty Treasures: Futomaki Sushi Roll and Pork Miso Soup with
Japanese Mushroom”
It’s a perfect recipe for autumn to keep us warm!
First, chef Jun and Gami sensei taught us how to make pork miso soup.
In each table, we assigned a task for each children, to cut carrots, burdock, Japanese radish.
The children follows the procedure to cut the ingredients by watching their mums and dads.
After the ingredients are cut, we stir fry them inside the pot.
While we gather around the pot, there were a lot of conversation!
Then we simmer the soup.
Now we can smell the delicious pork miso soup!
Is everyone hungry?
While the miso soup is being cooked, chef Jun and Gami sensi taught us how to make
Futomaki Sushi Roll.
Once you lay the ingredients and roll them, Futomaki Sushi Roll is completed!
Well done everyone!
Please give some compliments to your own children!
Finally the pork miso soup is completed!
We all enjoyed tasting the wonderful flavor!
After enjoying the meal, the children helped mums and dads to wash the dishes.
Then it’s time for Gami sensei’s “Color & Food Quiz”!
We had a guest, Ingrid sensei from Slovakia to join the workshop and she taught us on nutrition!
All together, “Banana → Yello→ Energy!!!”
We all enjoyed learning ☆
Last but not least, we sang “Good Bye song” to say farewell.
The first workshop ended in a friendly atmosphere.
Please try to make your own pork miso soup and Futomaki Sushi Roll at home based on the recipe
provided during the workshop!
Our chefs and staff of Star Chef ★ Shinagawa Kitchen are looking forward to seeing you all again
in the next workshop♪
