This is a report #3 from the second term of Star Chef ★ Shinagawa Kitchen!
(Japanese texts & photos : http://kodomoeigo.jugem.jp/?eid=364)
Thank you all for joining the third workshop! We still have one more workshop to go!
Let’s all enjoy cooking together, and interactive communication in English and
Japanese.
So here’s the detail of the event.
First, we had Ms. Obata - Section Chief of International Affairs, Community Promotion
Section of Shinagawa City Office – introducing two events in Shinagawa: “Traditional
Crafts and Tastes of Shinagawa Exhibition” and “Professional Consultations for Foreign
Residents”.
This event is published inside the January edition of “City News Shinagawa.”
Please join the event!
Today’s menu is “Sweet Valentine Chocolate Chip Cookies”!!
Tina sensei showed up with a heart shaped stick!
Once we sang “Hello Song”, the children went around the room meeting their new
friends, singing along to the “Skidamarink” song.
During the song, the children introduced their name and exchanged heart-shaped card
to each other.
After singing “I love you!” from the song, Chef Jun taught us how to make chocolate
chip cookies
^^
Each table has one bowl to mix the ingredients and share with other families.
Young children are helped by their mothers and fathers to mix the ingredients together.
We added chocolate chips into the bowl!
Next we gathered the dough into one.
Then shaped the dough into a ball.
Together as a family, everyone shaped the cookie dough into a small ball and place it
onto the oven tray. Then we press down the cookie dough with a fork to make it flat.
Into the oven☆
Looking forward to seeing delicious cookies!
While we bake the cookies, we had quiz on country flags and how to say “Hello” in
different languages!
We then reversed the direction of the baking tray inside the oven to bake the cookies
evenly.
Everyone is watching inside the oven to see if the cookies are ready or not.
Today’s story time is “Who stole the cookies from the cookie jar?”
We had so much fun participating during this story time!
To go with the cookies, Tina sensei prepared us a special tea!
We can smell sweet aroma of cookies inside the kitchen.
We baked many cookies ^^
During the crafts workshop, display designer, Ms. Junko Watanabe came to join us!
Thank you Watanabe san☆
Here is the materials for the crafts workshop!
Can you guess what will be made from these materials?
Slowly, we can see the shape!
It’s the sheep from this year 2015!
We have many variation of sheep!
At the end of the event, we had two guest singers, Maria san and YU-KI san, singing
"Do-Re-Mi", and “Under the spreading chestnut tree” in both Japanese and English♪
Thank you Maria san and YU-KI san for the wonderful performance!!
Our chefs and staff are looking forward to seeing you all again in the next
Star Chef ★ Shinagawa Kitchen.
